Student Deadline Management - UX Design Project

This project presents a user-centered dashboard designed to help students efficiently manage their academic deadlines and tasks.

Key Features & Objectives

  1. User Research Driven:

The project began with extensive user research, including interviews and surveys, to understand the specific challenges students face when managing multiple deadlines. Insights gathered informed the core design requirements and feature set.

  2. Persona & Journey Mapping:

Representative user personas and detailed user journeys were developed to capture different student workflows and pain points. This ensured the dashboard addresses practical, everyday scenarios.

  3. Task-Centric Workflow:

Students can easily add new tasks or deadlines, categorise them by course or priority, and view their progress at a glance. The dashboard visualises upcoming deadlines clearly, helping users prioritise their work effectively.

  4. Reminders & Notifications:

Integrated reminder functionality ensures students are alerted ahead of important due dates, reducing the risk of missed submissions or overlooked exams.

  5. Iterative Design Process:

Starting with low-fidelity wireframes, the interface was progressively refined through interactive prototypes built in Figma. Multiple rounds of usability testing ensured that navigation and information clarity met user expectations.

  6. Dashboard Visualisation:

Visual elements like calendars, charts, and progress bars provide a holistic overview of upcoming deadlines, workload distribution, and completion status, supporting better time management.

  7. Seamless Experience:

Interaction flows and interface components are optimised for clarity and simplicity, enabling students to manage tasks with minimal friction.

  8. Flexibility and Customisation:

The dashboard structure is modular and adaptable, allowing new features like group projects, integration with campus systems, or additional views (e.g., by week/month) without disrupting the underlying usability. The system can be adjusted to suit individual study habits or institutional requirements.

  9. Outcomes and Documentation

Usability Improvements:User testing and iterative refinement led to notable improvements in user satisfaction, navigation ease, and task completion speed.

Clear Communication: All design decisions, interaction patterns, and workflows are thoroughly documented to ensure smooth handoff for development and future enhancements.

Educational and Real-World Value: The project serves as a strong learning example of user-centered design, practical UX methods, and end-to-end digital product prototyping.

By streamlining the process of managing deadlines, this dashboard empowers students to organise their academic life proactively, improving productivity and reducing stress. The project demonstrates how thoughtful UX design and continuous user feedback can create solutions with tangible daily impact.
